From runway to golf green – literally – at Shannon Airport Monday 6th May 2019: The Dubai Duty-Free Irish Open maybe two months off but golf enthusiasts were getting in some early practice at an unlikely venue over the bank holiday weekend as Shannon Airport rolled out the green carpet to whet the appetite for this exciting golf event. The gateway airport that will welcome golfers and fans from across the globe for the event at the stunning Lahinch course from July 3rd to 7th had hundreds of wannabe golf pros chancing their arm at the temporary green in the airport arrivals hall. For the many transatlantic passengers landing in Shannon to play Lahinch or the many other links courses along the Wild Atlantic Way, it was an unexpected early start to their golfing holiday.
