Aero-Zone Distribution Europe, one of the world’s leading operators in the aircraft parts industry, has announced a major expansion at Shannon Free Zone, trebling its footprint and increasing its workforce to cater the company’s growing business operations.
A wholly owned subsidiary of the Arizona based company Aero-Zone, which has been providing new and aftermarket parts for commercial, corporate and general-aviation aircraft since 1994, Aero Zone Europe set up its successful Irish operation in 2014 in a 6,000 sq. ft. facility at Shannon Free Zone’s distribution centre.
The company is now moving to larger premises provided by Shannon Commercial Properties at 9 Earhart Avenue, in what was the former Boart building which has undergone a major refurbishment programme.
The move allows them to treble the size of their original base. With a current workforce of 10 employees, the new facilities will allow Aero-Zone expand their workforce to grow to 25 employees by the end of 2019.
Announcing the expansion, Sean O’Brien, Director of Business Development, Europe said: “The growth in demand for our services in tandem with the redevelopment of the Shannon Free Zone by Shannon Commercial Properties presented an opportunity for Aero-Zone Europe to consider a significant expansion.
“We signed a lease agreement with Shannon Commercial Properties for an 18,000 sq. ft. facility in the new Gateway West area of the Shannon Free Zone. It allows us to triple our warehouse capacity. As a result, we have implemented a recruitment programme to add additional staff to meet the needs of our customers which will allow us grow from our current staff complement of 10 employees to up to 25 by year end 2019.” he continued.
Aero-Zone has a large customer base within Europe and the Middle East and their Shannon Free Zone location, next to Shannon Airport, provides them with business connectivity and allows them to improve what is already a leading AOG [aircraft on ground] rapid response programme.
Welcoming the expansion Ray O’Driscoll, Managing Director Shannon Commercial Properties said: “Aero-Zone Europe is moving into one of five excellent high bay units in what used to be known as the ‘Boart Building which have recently undergone an extensive redevelopment. Aero Zone Europe’s decision to grow in the Shannon International Aviation Services Centre (IASC) further supports the investment strategy and vision of an Aviation Cluster in Shannon. The expansion adds significant value to the aviation cluster of 60 companies employing over 2,600 people and creates opportunities in particular for component repair and aircraft part out companies.”
