Shannon Group welcomes US company exida to Shannon Free Zone
Shannon Group has welcomed the decision by exida, a leading US cybersecurity company from Pennsylvania, to establish a European base at the Group’s Shannon Free Zone business park in County Clare, and as a result, create 25 new jobs over the next five years predominantly in engineering, software and development and consulting.
The Group, which manages a large property portfolio which includes Shannon Free Zone, has been working closely with exida to identify new office space for them due to their rapid growth. The company has found exida a base at the Gateway Hub located at Shannon Airport House in the Shannon Free Zone. The Gateway Hub, established by Shannon Group in 2018, is a specially designed co-working space where businesses and entrepreneurs can thrive.
Welcoming exida to Shannon Free Zone, Mary Considine, CEO, Shannon Group said: “This is a very positive announcement for the business community in Shannon. We are delighted to welcome exida, the latest FDI company to have chosen to locate in Shannon Free Zone. As a global leader in the cybersecurity field with offices worldwide, exida will join the current ecosystem of innovative tech companies in the Shannon Free Zone, along with the many international companies who have chosen Shannon as their ideal place for business.
“It is encouraging to know that exida CEO, Chris O’Brien, recognises the benefit of having an international airport on its doorstep and says proximity to Shannon Airport, next to Shannon Free Zone, was one of the key factors in basing its European operation at Shannon,” said Ms Considine.
Commenting on the announcement Ray O’Driscoll, Shannon Group Operating Officer said:
“exida’s decision to establish their European Centre of Excellence in Shannon is evidence of the many benefits our region provides to companies locating here. The Shannon Free Zone is a growing and diverse business park with a network of over 180 companies employing over 8,000 people from industries ranging from manufacturing, aviation, bio-pharma, distribution, tech and more. Our sales and leasing team in Shannon Commercial Properties are looking forward to working directly with exida as they set up their new operations in Shannon.”
Shannon Group’s development strategy for Shannon Free Zone is continuing apace despite Level 5 restrictions, with the company on track to deliver a 150,000 sq ft development of new advanced technology manufacturing space by the end of 2020.
“We pride ourselves on building world-class property solutions that have attracted FDI and indigenous companies to locate here and create jobs. Occupancy rates at Shannon Free Zone are now higher than they have ever been and have grown from 40% to over 90%, and by the end of this year we will have delivered almost one million sq ft of new property solutions since the Group’s establishment in 2014,” said Mr O’Driscoll.
